
About the Course
Course Description:
Today’s young people are the most distracted, disengaged, and depressed students in history. Studies suggest overprotection in the real world and under protection in the online world are contributing to these traits. Through course readings, asynchronous online discussions, and personal reflection, participants will learn why our youth struggle and how we can help them as parents, as teachers, and as community members.

60 CECH
4 Graduate credits through Augustana also available ($50/credit hour additional cost)

Internet access, Google Classroom login for Discussion Questions (DQs), reflections, and DQ responses. You must use a personal gmail account to access the course.

Your Instructor
Melinda Keefe
Melinda has 22 years of high school classroom experience, 16 of which were at an alternative school. She has been teaching in higher education since 2020 and has taught professional development classes for teachers since 2019. She also substitute taught (K-12) for two years while in grad school.
